Controversial rapper AKA reportedly failed to show up for a live performance in Nelspruit at the weekend, allegedly because he was too intoxicated to do any work.

AKA, whose real name is Kienaan Forbes, was booked to perform at the Elangeni Lodge in Nkomazi but the Composure hit maker snubbed the event at the last minute, Mpumalanga News reported on Tuesday.

Event organiser Zodwa Matsebula, aka DJ Zoe, of Redamancy Lifestyle and Entertainment, said AKA’s signed contract with them states clearly all the technical sound and production requirements which were all met.

“We hired TMM events which has the best sound and stage in town,” said Matsebula.

Matsebula added: “Someone told us that they saw him and he was allegedly too high to do anything, hence he could not come down to Nkomazi for work,” said Matsebula.

An employee at the hotel in which AKA was booked confirmed that he did pitch on Saturday, but looked high on drugs and could not work, according to the report.

AKA’s management team refused to comment.
