MIA flies in the face of PSG's wishes
Paris Saint-Germain has become embroiled in a bizarre legal wrangle with London hip-hop artist MIA. The French club have demanded that MIA, whose real name is Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, and her record company remove their new video Borders, which features a doctored PSG away shirt.In the video, which looks to tackle the ongoing Syrian migrant crisis, MIA is pictured wearing the club's shirt with the club's sponsors changed from "Fly Emirates" to "Fly Pirates".MIA posted the legal warning on Twitter after PSG allegedly sent a letter to the artist's record company insisting the video be removed. The letter from PSG's deputy CEO, Jean-Claude Blanc, also asks that the club be compensated for the "harm we have suffered".The letter reads: "We consider that the use of our brand and image in a video clip denouncing the treatment of refugees is a source of discredit to our club and distorts its public communication policy."MIA has been inundated with support from her fans, and posted a defiant image of herself wearing the controversial shirt.PSG have since confirmed that though they are keen to protect the image of the club, they are not pursuing legal action at this time. - ©The Daily Telegraph..
