Joburg set to 'crumble' in new movie starring Desmond Dube and Bubu Mazibuko
Moviegoers could soon see the end of Johannesburg as we know it, in a new disaster film set to be released next year.
The film, entitled Johannesburg, is being directed by SAFTA-nominated Kalumbu Kapisa and, according to him, is set for release in mid-2017.
The film tells the story of the city being wrecked by devastating earth tremors and the race against time to save it from being swallowed into a massive sink hole.
Shooting on the film has apparently just begun, with the movie set to star the likes of Bubu Mazibuko, Desmond Dube, Fabian Lojede and Richard Lukunku.
A poster for the movie found its way online this week and gives fans a glimpse of what to expect from the film.
Reflecting on the project, Kalumbu revealed that it is the realisation of a three-year dream.
"Three years in the making our disaster film is finally seeing the light. A journey of patience and sacrifices. A big shout out to my team," he wrote on social media.
