Durban-based rappers Duncan and Zakwe were not on the line-up for the annual Durban Youth Hip-Hop festival, and by the sounds of it, they're both not happy.

Speaking to Daily Sun, Duncan explained that he was disappointed for not being considered to perform at the event which took place at the Moses Mabhida stadium on June 11, claiming that he and Zakwe "worked hard [to put] Durban hip- hop on the map."

"I don’t know if organisers forgot about us – or if they don’t appreciate the work we put in for hip-hop in Mzansi," he told the local publication, before pointing out that "the line-up was 65% Jozi artists."

According to the KwaMashu-born rapper, Zakwe - who was reportedly at the festival - was scheduled at the last minute to perform, however, he reportedly did not get the chance.

Taking to Twitter, Zakwe poured his heart out for being sidelined, saying that "he was lied to."

In response, organiser Hlubi Radebe, of Richie R Concepts, explained to the paper: "We tried a couple of times to contact Duncan but unfortunately we couldn’t get hold of him.

"I can understand Zakwe’s frustration because he was there – but could not perform because of time constraints."
