Rob van Vuuren explains his love for the National Arts Festival

Van Vuuren and his mom, Judy Mannering, drove to Grahamstown to enjoy the kaleidoscopic 11 day Festival that introduced them to various forms of art and ignited Van Vuuren’s love for performing.

The Festival has been running for over 40 years and Van Vuuren has been in attendance 25 times. In between his busy schedule as a comedian, actor, writer and director, Van Vuuren has managed to co-write, perform and co-produce a number of pieces for the Festival.

Van Vuuren said the Festival has become a fixture in his life and even though so many years have gone by he still enjoys attending the Festival. “So much has changed over the years and yet everything feels so familiar because the Festival is such a creative space,” he added.

Van Vuuren and his mom are in town for the Festival again and he shared this momentous occasion with his Twitter and Instagram followers.

“Grahamstown becomes a hub of creatives with people who enjoy and appreciate self-expression,” said Van Vuuren.

Van Vuuren will be taking part in a few comedy productions, but he is more excited about spending time with his mom at the Festival. “It’s great being back with my mom and I’m so thankful to her for having taken me to Fest all those years ago”.
