Fans have once again been warned not to fall for social media posts advertising auditions for popular SABC 1 drama Uzalo.

A Facebook page recently emerged, advertising auditions to be held in Johannesburg this weekend, July 9 and 10.

The page currently has over 3,800 likes.

The page asks fans to register for auditions by messaging the account with a valid e-mail address. It is not known if the page is charging fans for the 'auditions,' like some fake accounts have done in the past.

Speaking to TMG Entertainment on Tuesday, the show's producers confirmed that the auditions are fake and said that any news of auditions will be communicated by them and not through a third party.

"Uzalo is definitely not holding any auditions. Any reports that the production is holding auditions are false, and we urge the public to ignore these announcements, and to look to the official Uzalo Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages for any announcements about such developments," Uzalo publicist Marang Setshwaelo said.

A similar scam involving the show surfaced last year. The scam asked fans to pay R100 into a private bank account in order for them to attend an audition at Durban's Moses Mabhida stadium.
