I Am Cait premiered last year July to enormous expectations following former Olympian — then Bruce Jenner — through his transition to becoming a transgender woman, Caitlyn. According to Nielsen, the show drew solid ratings in its debut with 2.7 million viewers. However, its second season - which focused more on Caitlyn's new found life more than her transformation - premiered to a less fan fare, bringing in only 750 000 viewers.
The series has been applauded by the transgender community and won Outstanding Reality Programme at the GLAAD Media Awards this year.
