TV and radio personality Ntombi Mzolo recently opened up about the intimate moments she shared with her son, Dunamis Sizwe Junior, before she lost him to a rare heart condition in December last year.

Dunamis was born with a heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart which meant the left side of his heart was 'critically underdeveloped' and, therefore, he had to go straight to ICU after he was born.

This was followed by a heart surgery that he had to undergo a week after birth, which, according to Ntombi is "considered to be one of the most complicated in the world."

However, this mournful experience didn't stop Ntombi from creating happy memories with her son, who she shared a deep connection with before he was even born.

"I bonded with that little boy even before I met him. He was so energetic and bubbly, I fell in love with him," she told Move, before recalling an instance of when she would tap her tummy three times, and Dunamis would respond by kicking back three times.

"That alone made me realise I was carrying a special person," she added.

Ntombi further pointed out that, unlike her husband, she remained hopeful when doctors explained to her that Dunamis would be born with an underdeveloped heart.

"I didn't stop believing that he would live and enjoy a normal life. Unlike my husband, who didn't take the news well, I told myself that I would enjoy every minute with my baby boy regardless of his condition.

"We had fun together and I sang for him sometimes," she revealed.

On the day of his death, Ntombi paid an awfully heartfelt tribute to her son on Instagram, commending him for fighting "a battle of many men."

"He was a silent prophet who ministered the word and saved many souls without ever uttering a word...therefore as a family we believe that his purpose was fulfilled. He has taught us a lot as a family and brought us even closer to God. We thank the Almighty for allowing us the opportunity to be blessed by the life of #Dunamis. He was indeed the #DunamisPower #GodsWarrior," she wrote.
