Sfiso Ncwane might be known as a multi-platinum selling gospel sensation today, with an endless list of achievements under his belt, however he's had his share of hardships, having experienced pangs of poverty way before his popularity and market value soared dramatically.

Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the gospel star opened up about heart-rending moments from his childhood - claiming that not only did he not have toys growing up, but he also struggled for food and never had the opportunity to go to school.

"As a child I never had toys. A relative who raised me did her best to feed me but I couldn't get a chance to go to school," he recalled, before revealing what that relative has to say about his success now.

"Whenever she looks at me now, she always says 'Khehla, we did not know what were you talking about if you say, 'one day you will sing on TV and cassettes and bless people with your voice.'"

He continued to explain that his consistent goal was to "bless people" and change their lives through ministry, however, admitted that he didn't think he would achieve that goal, given that he was uneducated and was not fluent in English.

"My aim was to bless people and change people's lives through my ministry. I never thought an uneducated boy like me who can't even speak English well will also get such recognitions.

"It's only the Grace and the mercy of God. If God remembered me, your time is also coming."
