Afrikaans songstress Karlien van Jaarsveld and former rugby player Joe Breytenbach have taken their romance to the next level, confirming that they are engaged.
Taking to social media on Saturday, Karlien revealed the exciting news to fans, saying that she wanted to break the news herself.
"I would like to share the news with you before the media. Me and Joe Breytenbach are engaged," Karlien said in a Facebook post.
The singer went on to gush about her man giving fans a glimpse of who he is.
"Everyone asks who is Joe. So Joe is a just a regular guy with a regular job who loves golf on a random day off and a beer to relax. He likes to smoke cigars (he smokes a little too much of it) and he makes regular food for us in the house," she said.
Karlien explained that she and Joe first met 11 years ago in Potchefstroom where they kissed, but nothing came off the encounter as Joe moved to France.
And then years down the line Joe "popped up out of the blue".
"As they say 'you had me at hello' and the rest is history. Right time, right place," Karlien said about her whirlwind romance.
Karlien added that she is "very, very happy".
Karlien and Joe were first spotted out together at the SAMAs in June this year, where they were seen loved-up without a care in the world.
Karlien split from her husband Derick Hougaard last year with their divorce being finalised in October. The two have twin boys together.
