Rapper Khuli Chana has revealed that his documentary, based on his enormous David and Goliath battle against the South African Police Services (SAPS), will be shown on SABC before the end of the year.

Titled Picking Up The Pieces: The Khuli Chana Story, the documentary, produced by Asanda Maku, divulges elaborate details about Khuli's 2013 ordeal - when he was shot at by police officials using an automatic rifle in a case of mistaken identity.

The rapper, who eventually reached a financial settlement with the SAPS at the Johannesburg High Court after two years, also gives viewers an insight into how his life has changed since the wrongful shooting incident.

Speaking to Eyewitness News, Khuli said the documentary, which was screened at the Jozi Film Festival over the weekend, has been lovingly welcomed by fans since its premiere in August - so much so that the SABC has decided to air it on one of its various platforms.

"It’s starting to grow legs and many people have shown interest.  SABC will air it as well so everybody will get a piece of that action," he said, before adding that the production has given him the opportunity to set the record straight.

"When you’ve been through what I have and there’s 20 million versions of the story, you wish you had a one-on-one to let them know what really went down."
