While Mandoza's memorial was filled with tears and sombre moments, it was also a celebration of his life, with those close to him remembering special times they had shared with the kwaito star.

Speakers at the memorial held during the week thanked Mandoza's wife, Mpho, for standing by her man and loving him through all the ups and downs.

But as tears rolled, many used the opportunity to pay tribute to the man they loved in the way they know best: through music.

Taking to the stage, fellow musicians performed Mandoza's hit song, Nkalakatha.
