US rapper Future to headline MTV MAMAs 2016

Hip-hop star Future has been added to the star-studded lineup for the MTV MAMAs 2016.

The award-winning American rapper is set to join local stars Cassper Nyovest, Babes Wodumo, and Nigerian songstress Yemi Alade in setting the MAMAs stage alight on October 22.

Following his performance at the MAMA award show, Future will stage an extra live performance, treating fans to tracks like Turn on the Lights, Same Damn Time and Stick Talk.

Future has also bagged a nomination in the Best International Act of the highly-anticipated awards ceremony.

The announcement, which was made by MTV on Thursday afternoon, has been received with much excitement from fans.

The news also comes just days after international funnyman Trevor Noah was unveiled as the host of the music showcase.

The second half of the nominees are set to be announced in Lagos on October 2. The glitzy ceremony is set to be broadcast live across the world on  MTV Base (Dstv Channel) and MTV Base (DStv Channel 322).
