No wins, but SA still shines bright at the BETs

Babes Wodumo, Nasty C, AKA and Amanda Black all walked away empty-handed at the BET awards, held in Los Angeles this weekend.

Nasty C, Babes and AKA were all nominated in the Best International Act: Africa category that was won by Nigerian megastar Wizkid. While Amanda lost out in the Viewers' Choice: Best International category to Tanzania's Ray Vanny.

Despite their disappointment, South Africa was still well represented at the awards, with Pearl Thusi and Nomzamo Mbatha both presenting awards.

And it seemed like BET organisers were impressed by Nomzamo's skills.

SA music veteran Yvonne Chaka Chaka was honoured with the Global Good Award. 

Accepting her award, she encouraged artists not to compete with each other but to work together.
