TV personality Zizo Beda has come to singer Bucie's defence after she was attacked on social media because of her weight.

Bucie, who recently gave birth to a baby boy, appeared with Zizo on Afternoon Express on Monday.  Zizo posted a snap of the two in studio together.

While many fans thought the picture was cute one user used the opportunity to criticise Bucie about her weight.

Zizo wasted no time and sternly rebuked the user with a stinging response.

"What an absolutely disgusting comment to make about someone! She just had a baby! And that is besides the point -you have no right to body shame somebody! Don't do that," Zizo told the follower.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, Zizo said that she was appalled by the hate because she personally knew the struggles of being judged while trying to lose weight after childbirth.

"I have had this kind of hate directed at me many many times. People have ridiculous judgements about people's bodies and it is not right. Bucie is a mom, like me and I thought that I should stand up for her. I blocked the guy immediately because I do not stand for anyone who body shames and it is not right to speak that way about someone.

Zizo added that it was because of incidents like this that people have become so conscious about their bodies.

"Suicide is on the increase because of incidents like this. The time to call people out on this is now. We cannot celebrate diversity as a nation and then destroy other people's self-image on social media," Zizo added.
