If there's one thing that Winnie Madikizela-Mandela fought hard for, it's freedom of expression. And Connie Chiume has done a brilliant job in her monologue in Winnie's honour as part of a six-part series.
Some of Mzansi's most gifted actresses have put their talent to work and have created a monologue to celebrate the life and struggles of Ma Winnie Mandela.
Connie Chiume has joined Lerato Mvelase, Hlubi Mboya, Mona Monyane, Busisiwe Mtshali and Emmy nominated actress Thuso Mbedu to record monologues based on certain portions of the struggle hero's life for online acting portal, Actor Spaces.
The first of these powerful videos to be put up has been a very emotional performance by Black Panther star Connie.
"It is about time the women of this country gave a strong warning to all those racists out there who keep calling us monkeys, who keep calling us baboons that they must remember. They must remember what we have done to them in the past. There were times when we were all by ourselves in the country and yet we defeated them," said Connie in the clip.
Caution: This video will most probably leave you in your feels.
