Sphamandla Dhludhlu says his roles taught him that karma is a real thang!
In real life, you are lucky if you can learn about karma from other people's mistakes, because otherwise if it knocks on your door, it always leaves a scar. Luckily for actors like Sphamandla Dhludhlu, their pretend lives do all the teaching.
The young actor told TshisaLIVE that part of the many benefits that came with acting for a living was all the other lives they get to "live" through their characters.
He said the stand out lesson has been that karma will find you if you deserve it.
"I've learned that in life, doing bad things will never yield good results. It will always come back to haunt you. And, in the moment where you do it, it may even feel right but trust, karma is something else and it will hit you super hard."
He admitted that if there's one thing karma would come at him for, it would be breaking hearts as a young boy. But, lucky for him, his characters have taught him better now.
"Yeah, I've done things. Bad things, like breaking people's hearts. I mean, I've since grown and this was way before I knew the actual repercussions of hurting people in that way. Hurting people is not a good thing and it will come back to you, often multiplied."
Sphamandla said that he had not felt the wrath of lady karma, but he knows through his character on Rhythm City and on iKhaya, that when karma strikes it hurts!
"Themba has felt what karma feels like, but Spha on the other hand has had it a little bit easier. I'm lucky that I get to learn from these characters."
*Yeah, you're so lucky*
