Veteran actor Morgan Freeman has become the latest Hollywood celeb to be accused of sexual harassment and the Twitter streets are not dealing.

According to CNN, at least eight women have accused the star of inappropriate behaviour or harassment while working with them on film sets or at promotional events.

The report claimed that eight people had told them they were victims of what they labelled as harassment and inappropriate behaviour, while eight others said they had  witnessed the actor’s alleged misconduct. Other sources denied having seen such behaviour.

Freeman has since issued an apology for making anyone feel "uncomfortable or disrespected".

As the news broke, social media was split over the claims.

Soon timelines were filled with reaction and people shared their shocks at the news, sometimes through jokes and memes.

In a statement, the star said he never intended to make people feel uncomfortable or disrespected and apologised if anyone had felt that way while working with him.

“Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy. I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected — that was never my intent.”

According to New York Post's Page Six several marketers, including credit card company Visa, have suspended advertising campaigns and paused all collaborations with the star.
