Twitter is applauding TV network, ABC, for cancelling the Roseanne TV show after the star posted a series of racists messages on social media.

The network acted swiftly an released a statement confirming the show would not be aired.

"Roseanne's Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show," ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey said.

The show was revived three months ago to great ratings and social media has applauded ABC for not bowing down to potential sales in favour of making the "right decision."

In one tweet Roseanne wrote: "Muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj."

Although Roseanne issued an apology, US media are reporting that the network had the full support of everybody involved.

At the same time, it's being reported that over 100 people will lose their jobs as a result of the show being canned.

It's believed that the star's talent agency has also dropped her from their books.
