TV and radio star Lerato Kganyago has joined the chorus of outrage after an alleged student at a Soweto school was caught on camera chasing a teacher and telling bystander that he wanted to make the educator “kak”.

In the video, which has since gone viral, the student can be seen be seen aggressively chasing the teacher down a driveway before the man falls to the ground. The student then tries to kick the teacher while people crowd around the pair.

A person is heard asking him why he is so aggressive and he says he is tired of the teacher. One of the bystanders shouts that someone should call the police.

Responding to the video, after being tagged in several posts expressing outrage, Gauteng MEC for Education Panyaza Lesufi said his team was "on it"

When a 72 hour deadline was given, Lesufi responded by indicating that he would keep to it.

Lerato Kganyago was one of many who shared their shock at the video.

Commenting on a post containing the video, she wrote that such incidents were "so disheartening"

She added that it was sad to see abuse of teachers become so prevalent in society.

"It’s becoming a trend. Teachers are not safe anymore."
