Bridget Masinga & other celebs react to 'racist' #RupertOnPower
Mzansi's famous faces including Bridget Masinga, Portia Gumede and Ursula Chikane among others couldn't hold in their anger sparked by billionaire Johann Rupert's controversial comments about young black people.
During a sit down interview with Given Mkhari on Power FM the billionaire made some presumptuous things about the economic standing of the black youth, claiming that they never save and spend their money at Taboo, a popular Joburg clubband on BMWs.
Rupert said the early “downtrodden” generation of Afrikaners from which he was descended were “driven” and had raised themselves up by “studying like crazy and saving like crazy”.
"They didn’t go and buy BMWs and hang around at Taboo and The Sands all the time, okay?"
He added that he hasn't seen leadership coming out of Given's generation and he compared them to Steve Biko, who he reckons wouldn't be found in Taboo.
"Remember, I met Steve Biko when he was in his twenties. And he wouldn’t have carried on in Taboo."
Celebs came at him for "disrespecting" black people and particularly young black people.
Beyoncé didn’t travel all these hours to gives us a show honey, only for us to be disrespected by a racist named #JohanRupert

I can only imagine how #JohanRupert speaks to his black house staff. And how must he speak off blacks around the braai. Wow! Wow! I’m still triggered by the interviewer...and the interviewee *claps once*

“Isn’t it time we start talking to each other instead of screaming at each other. Our country is not in great shape. The rest of the world doesn’t care about us.” Rupert #RupertOnPOWER

EFF rise. Focus. Stop being a tabloid. Be the PhD of political arena that this country needs. We can't be going into 2019 with the likes of Rupert doing the most. But be focused. Grow up, fight a good fight. I remain confused who to vote for but after tonight...#RupertOnPOWER

I mean WHO is the genius that told Johan that his tribalist detritus is funny?
... and @MkhariGiven how can you let this man disrespect you like in your OWN HOUSE? I’m bitterly disappointed. #RupertOnPOWER
Am I the only one feeling a tinge of insult in the way Rupert is engaging with Mkhari? @Powerfm987#RupertOnPOWER
