4 of Mzansi's most charitable celebrities
It's always a beautiful thing to watch celebrities take a break from the glitz and glam, pull up their sleeves and get to work to rake in cash for charity.
Thankfully, Mzansi has a lot of people putting the needs of others first, and the following are just four examples of the country's charitable celebrities.
Anele Mdoda
This year the talk show host took on an honourable challenge - building toilets for school children.
She enthusiastically latched on to a project by Domestos, manufacturer of cleaning products.
The company plans to fix or build toilets in two schools in 2019. Mdoda wants to make it three and needs R1.1m to do so.
Her relentless efforts are paying off. Through tweets and talking about the project every chance she gets, she has raised over R130,000 through her funding page.
Mdoda is also chipping in where she can after the Alex fires.
She's among many people who are rising to the occasion and helping to provide relief to Alexandra families who lost everything in the recent fire that destroyed around 600 homes.
Mdoda has been noticeably encouraging big brands to act and they are stepping up.
Hi @Anele , we are deeply saddened by last night's #AlexFires. #AddHope has pledged to feed 300 displaced families over the next 3 months with food parcels everyday and we are also providing food to the Uber drivers helping out on the ground. Together we can make a difference.

Skhumbuzo Hlophe
The comedian, also known as Skhumba, is passionate about the shortage of wheelchairs in SA.
To do his bit to change lives, Skhumba invited other comedians and together, they served hilarious charity at a stand-up comedy bonanza in July.
Skhumba has now set about making Christmas a little more special for 21 families by giving away groceries.
He roped in his breakfast show co-host Ndumiso Ngcobo, his employer Kaya FM and big retailers.
21 Families will have a dope Christmas all thanks to #GoodFridayGoodDeeds. @skhumbi and @NdumisoNgcobo went to collect groceries earlier today. A Big Thank You to @PicknPay Rosebank for their contribution. #GoodFridayOnKaya #KayaCares pic.twitter.com/3P6Iy5oNjj

DJ Shimza
2018 marks the tenth anniversary of the One Man Show for Charity, proudly brought to the South African public by DJ Shimza, real name Ashley Raphala.
"It feels good to be here because a lot of events start and they kind of just fall off," he said.
Proceeds from the show go towards providing school uniforms to children who need them.
When the idea was born, DJ Shimza wanted to attract the country's best artists to pull a crowd but he has so far been the only DJ on the line-up, giving the show its name.
