Celebrity funeral artist Lebani Sirenje aka Rasta has had a tough year and has failed to impress the country with his depiction of fallen icons.

When Rasta first started attending celebrity memorials and funerals, fans hailed his intention of creating portraits of fallen stars, which were given to grieving families.

This was, however, short lived as over the past year Rasta came under fire on several occasions for getting it completely wrong.

Here's a look at Rasta's mess-ups this year.

In December Rasta decided to change things up when he attended the Global Citizen Festival, where he painted a portrait of Beyonce and Jay-Z.

Yet again, Rasta was ripped to shreds for it by fans.

Despite the hate he's gotten throughout the year, Rasta told TshisaLIVE that painting is his passion and that he would not be deterred by critics.

"I have been drawing for a long time, since my high school days and it's my passion something that I live for. What people don't understand is that painting is a process and it's not a fast process. There's a lot of steps that must be taken from the first sketch to the final product. The problem now is that the minute I sit down, someone takes a picture of my incomplete work and says to Twitter, 'Look at Rasta's painting!' but at that stage the picture is not done, so it doesn't look great because it isn't done. But Twitter doesn't care, they go ahead and judge anyway," Rasta said.
