Florence Masebe's mobilising actors to charge against Parliament for #PPAB
This time actors will not let the NCOP "ignore" their plea to have the #PerformersProtectionAmendmentBill passed
Florence Masebe led masses of actors to parliament filled with hope last year to speak about why the #PerformersProtectionAmendmentBill was a necessity but almost five months later, no "positive" action has been taken.
Florence took to social media to let actors and supporters of the bill know that not only was there no action since November from National Council of Provinces (NCOP), there had been letter and petitions allegedly submitted to NCOP against the development and passing of the bill.
"It is not enough to voice your views here on social media platforms. The people who are seriously against transformation of the sector are not sleeping. They are lobbying like their money depends on it. We cannot afford to have justice for the actors delayed. Tell the #NCOP that," Florence shared.
Florence pleaded with actors to submit individual letters to parliament explaining why the bill matters and should be passed. She explained that things would never change if they were not determined to make them, especially not when those who benefit would rather have things stay as they are.
"South Africa is about to ratify the Beijing Treaty on Audiovisual Performances. Read up fast. Paying royalties to actors is a standard everywhere else? Why is it so hard to give economic rights to South African actors? We won't back down."
Florence is geared up to fight and it looks like she now has an army of artists ready to fight too.
Still my plea. Dear actors... Send the NCOP your views so that we can get this bill passed. If we don't speak for ourselves, the enemy lies in our names. Send an email today to hmtileni@parliament.gov.za and state why you support the #PerformersProtectionAmendmentBill 🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/n3awcGSEcA

Many popular and upcoming actors and artist heeded Florence call and showed up in their numbers to support the cause.
They sent screenshots of the emails they've sent to parliament on Twitter.
His return on investment is priority to him as it should but actors play such an important role to that investment,

So for him to want to benefit alone as a production company while actors contribute to the production is just wrong#PerformersProtectionAmendmentBill
Calling all actors, artists and performers to send mail to hmtileni@parliament.gov.za in support of the #PerformersProtectionAmendmentBill DEADLINE is TODAY! Do the right thing!
