Gqom musician Babes Wodumo has broken her silence on the viral video that exposed the alleged abuse she's been enduring with a short statement shared on social media.

Video clips of a man believed to be Babes' longtime boyfriend, musician Mampintsha, were apparently recorded from her Instagram Stories during the early hours of Monday morning. In the clips a man could be seen slapping Babes several times.

The Wololo hitmaker's management, shared a tweet in which they spoke about how Babes was holding up since the incident.

"Unfortunately Babes won't be able to have any interviews for now as she is still emotional about the situation. She will issue a statement on her social media platform later today," the tweet read.

Babes' management thanked everyone for the overwhelming support that has dominated the news and social media since the video went viral.

Babes' sister and PR manager, Nondumiso Simelane, told TshisaLIVE the video was real and that she was currently resting after the incident.

South Africans have since called for Mampintsha to be boycotted and for him to face the wrath of the law.
