Shock, anger and hurt: Murder of 'Matwetwe' star leaves SA reeling

The death of Matwetwe lead actor Sibusiso Khwinana has sparked anger and frustration on social media, as people highlighted the severity of crime in the country.
Sbu was stabbed in Pretoria on Friday night, reportedly over a cellphone.
The actor was on the rise to stardom, as the film, directed by comedian Kagiso Lediga and co-produced by DJ Black Coffee, made R2m in the first eight days.
According to police, Khwinana was allegedly approached by a suspect who demanded his phone. He was fatally stabbed while they were wrestling for the device.
Khwinana’s death comes shortly after 27-year-old Thorisho Themane, from Polokwane, dominated social media after he was fatally assaulted, allegedly by a group of high school pupils.
The actor’s death infuriated many, who felt not enough was being done to address crime in South Africa.

We live in a country where your life can be taken for a cell phone. Last night a young man who was lauded for his starring role in #Matwetwe was stabbed to death on a Pretoria street for his cell phone. Actor #SibusisoKhwinana had his life snuffed out because of crime. R.I.P Sbu

#Matwetwe was in China last week. The liberty of walking the streets at 10PM-12AM with YOUR cellphone in your hand with no fear of being mugged or killed and today I walked in Joburg frightened, insecure making sure no one is following me and seeing the fear written on many faces
