Rachel Kolisi and the rest of the cyclists, who formed part of the Meals on Wheels' Extreme Ride for Hunger Cycle Tour kicked off their 1075 km ride on Sunday.  

Meals on Wheels is a non profit organisation that provides meals for the poor in more than 700 service points across the country.

The initiative is aimed at raising awareness on the plight of those still affected by hunger and poverty.

This particular event is taking place at the organisation's Northern Cape branch. 

The 1075 km ride started from Kimberly and the final destination will be Cape Town.

It is inclusive of  seven outreach charity events from across the province.
