There was a time in Mzansi when being a hip-hop artist meant having to catch rides to gigs, but these days rappers are driving flashy wheels and living in mansions.

And Cassper Nyovest has explained that this is because as a South African rapper, there's never been a better time to be alive!

"Yup! And it's generating more money than it ever has in the history of SA hip-hop. Kats are finally eating!" Cassper tweeted.

However, Cassper didn't want to paint an incomplete picture and explained that while there's money to make, not everyone was making the same kind of guap.

He emphasised that now - more than at any other time since the establishment and rise of SA hip-hop - there were a lot more opportunities to make a lot of money.

Plus there were many more people actually securing the bag!

"No, but they (young upcoming rappers) make better money than the up and coming rappers from any era in SA hip hop. The hip hop economy is booming. Don't be fooled by Twitter chats. Never been a time where there was such a variety of hip hop artists in our country. We doing well."

So next time a person wants to judge you for your m'rapper ambitions, just tell them Abuti Fill Up said SA Hip Hop is the money team to join!
