In the wake of the viral video which showed Babes Wodumo being slapped several times by her boyfriend Mampintsha, veteran actress Baby Cele has reflected on her own experience with abuse.

Taking to Instagram last week Baby said the viral video took her back seven years ago to when she herself was being abused.

"This thing is eating me inside, what happened to Babes Wodumo just took me back to the years when I was married to an abusive guy. I can’t even say man cause real men take good care of their queens."

Baby said even though people around her kept telling her to leave but she couldn't because she was scared.

"Close friends kept telling me to get a divorce but I couldn’t, not because I still had feelings for him, no but because I was scared of him, scared to leave him. He kept telling me that if I leave he will hunt me down and kill me like a dog."

Baby encouraged followers not to judge Babes but to shower her with support.

Mampintsha has since been arrested on charges of assault and was released R2,000 bail. He opened a counter charge of assault against Babes.

Speaking to journalists outside the Pinetown Magistrate's Court last week, Mampintsha admitted to hitting Babes but claimed that she beat up too.
