Busiswa has encouraged women not to let self-doubt or external body-shaming allow them to miss opportunities, as she reflected on how she's handled comments that came with her latest lingerie shoot.

Taking to her Instagram, the singer said that she'd taken some time to collect her thoughts after having observed what people had to say after she posed in her lingerie for an Ackermans ad.

"I have some things to get off my chest so let me go off for a minute. A few months ago I jumped on an ad campaign for lingerie with Ackermans SA and as expected a lot of people had a lot to say. This sums up what I have to say about it all. My comments section is open and it’s here for us to talk."

She said even though most comments have been positive, she also noted a lot of negative comments. She had decided to deal with them head-on.

"Truth is I never thought I would do something like that being plus-size and all. Well now it's done and I feel invincible. I'm emotionally stable now from all the body-shaming," Busiswa said.

The mother of one told her fans never to count themselves out on account of people's comments. She reasoned that if she had allowed that to happen, she would have missed out.

"I didn't go out and actively search for that role but you know what? That role, that found me. When it found me, I wasn't necessarily ready for it but definitely, I knew that what is for me will come to me. If I decided that I wasn't good enough, if I thought that I was scared to show my stretch marks and cellulite ... then I would have closed myself off from that opportunity."
