Winnie Mashaba & others pray for Idai cyclone victims

Celebrities including Bonang, Winnie Mashaba and Ntsiki Mazwai have joined thousands in prayer for those hit by devastating cyclone Idai in Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Malawi.

Cyclone Idai wreaked havoc on all three countries last week, leaving a trail of devastation and death. More than a thousand people are feared dead, and more than 150 are missing in Zimbabwe.

The crisis has led Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa to declare a state of disaster in the affected areas, and thousands are taking to social media to pray for victims of the cyclone.

Among those was musician Winnie Mashaba, who took to social media on Monday to pledge her support.

Bonang took to Twitter just days earlier to offer her prayers to those suffering around  the world, including in Mozambique and Zim.

Poet and TV host Ntsiki Mazwai questioned why the cyclone had not been given more attention, and claimed it was "not trendy" or "shallow enough" for people to care.
