Fans are #SurvivingCardiB after she admitted 'to drugging & robbing' men
The three-year-old video came back to haunt the rapper
Video footage in which Cardi B admitted to luring men from a strip club to hotel rooms where she drugged and robbed them of their belongings has resurfaced on the internet and has since gone viral.
"I had to go strip, I had to go, ‘Oh yeah, you want to f**k me? Yeah, let’s go back to this hotel.' And I drugged n***as up and I robbed them. That’s what I used to do," Cardi B said in the video.
The hashtag #SurvivingCardiB, modeled after R Kelly's Lifetime doccie #SurvivingRKelly, topped the trends list on Wednesday, with many calling for the rapper to face the same wrath as Bill Cosby and R Kelly.
Cardi B has since issued a statement explaining the video, its content and the response she's received on Instagram.
"I never claim to be perfect or come from a perfect world with a perfect past, I always speak my truth. I always own my sh*t," read part of the statement.

While most people just attached funny memes and gifs to the trend and went about their lives, others were more serious in their approach.
Some compared the rapper to Bill Cosby and even R Kelly, while others showed admiration for the stripper annex award-winning rapper.

I know y’all didn’t try to cancel Nicki for dating an alleged rapist but turn around and give Cardi a pass when she actually is one. #SurvivingCardiB pic.twitter.com/BdYGNTkDFP

I grew up poor and in the hood. I never robbed or raped or drugged a man. Stop using the hood as an excuse. You’re just a 🗑 individual. #SurvivingCardiB pic.twitter.com/mXGwocnJTt
