"Mmusi, bulungu and Thinus" - these are some of the words and names that black South Africans heard from Afrikaans musician, Kurt Darren's rendition of the national anthem.

This is according to comedian Tats Nkonzo, who joined thousands of South Africans who made fun of Kurt's botched rendition of the national anthem.

In his hilarious rendition, Nkonzo imitates Kurt's messy flop of the Sotho stanza of the anthem.

Somizi also put Kurt in his place, through a video which he posted on Instagram. The media personality said the anthem isn't easy and therefore must be sung with care.

He said he was glad that South Africans, black and white, called the musician to order. Somizi admitted that he too gets confused by the Afrikaans stanza of the anthem, but makes an effort to get it right either way.

SA artist Kurt Darren had social media buzzing after he sang the South African national anthem at the Varsity Cup rugby match in Stellenbosch on April 15 2019. While singing, he made various mistakes with the lyrics and people quickly took to Twitter to point it out. Darren has since defended himself, claiming that he only made one mistake.
