Here’s what was in the pipeline for the late Jamie Bartlett

Although Jamie Bartlett was widely known and loved for his character on Rhythm City, he had a lot in the pipeline before his death.

News of the star's death broke on Monday evening, sending shockwaves across the nation and leaving thousands in mourning.

Speaking to TshisaLIVE, actor Zola Hashatsi said the last time they were together they were working on a few things. The producer said he was in disbelief that his friend had passed.

"Last month I felt like messaging him, and I said: 'Let's chill, it's been a while'. He drove and came to Soweto. We grabbed a few beers and we had a chat. I was trying to get him on the Podcast and Chill with MacG podcast. That's what we were working on. That's the last thing we spoke about on Friday  

"I was busy trying to work on a new show called David Genaro, just him as a stand alone. We were trying to create something for Netflix that would centre around him. He was the star of Rhythm City. Even if he was off script, the writers ended up liking the way he spoke". 

After more than a decade in the role, Bartlett made his final appearance as the villain everyone loved to hate in February 2020.

Sowetan reported that Jamie recently joined the second season of The Republic.

More recently, he played the role of Piet in the eVOD original production Piet's Sake. eVOD is eMedia's streaming platform.
