Actress Mona Monyane is officially off the market after announcing that she's found love again and is engaged.
The actress took to her Instagram timeline on Thursday sharing the great news with her followers showing a glimpse of her sparkling engagement ring.
Speaking exclusively to TshisaLIVE Mona, sharing more details, revealed that her partner, a property developer, asked for her hand in marriage after a year of their being together.
Mona's partner, whose identity she's concealed from the public in the interim, proposed when they were having dessert in a Cape Town restaurant after a stroll in a garden.
“I have never felt more at peace ... the idea that I would consider getting married again was one I was far removed from but the way in which things have worked out I can only say this is God working in my life,” she said.
“This person makes me feel brave enough to take that chance again.”
She has known her fiancé for 10 years, from when they were in a relationship, and rekindled the flame while Mona was on a healing journey.
“He and I were in a relationship ... we broke up because we were still young and I thought I wanted something different and it's through this [healing] journey that we reconnected ... I prayed and God brought him back into my life.
“It was a lot of reconnecting and [getting to know] each other because it has been a long time and we both had previous relationships and children ...”
Speaking of what she loves about her fiancé, Mona said she appreciated that their relationship was built on friendship.
“It's based on friendship and mutual respect, he's my friend. We've got that kind of repertoire between us, which means we can be ourselves with each other, we can be real with each other.
“Spiritually we're connected. We pray together, we can discuss things together. It's mostly a foundation of friendship and every day we get to fall in love with each other.”
While Mona admits she was reluctant to share the details on social media, having been candid after her divorce from actor Khulu Skenjana who she was married to for four years, she wanted to speak about this new chapter in her life.
Having both come from relationships with children, Mona spoke of how this stage in her life would have a “blended family element”, but she was not rushing to introduce her partner to her daughter.
“Earlier on in my separation, I realised that it's not wise — especially if you're not sure about somebody — to involve the children. Right now, it's still an engagement and culturally there's processes that still need to be done and I believe that when those processes are under way, that's when I will (let) her meet my partner.”
