Comedienne Lebogang Tlokana, aka the “Funny Chef”, has thanked her friend DJ Lamiez Holworthy for a surprise party to celebrate her latest achievement.

Lebogang saw a dream come to life when she launched her recipe book titled Delicious Dishes. To celebrate her special moment, Lamiez planned a surprise party.

Taking to Instagram, the Funny Chef gushed about Lamiez and other friends who rallied behind her.

“Lamiez Holworthy threw me a surprise book release party. Could your friends ever? She told me we were going out and that I must first come to her house so we can drive around with her f**ken car. Gakere paaaa... Holla 'surprise'. Usually surprises are gunshots for me, so you could imagine my shock ... it was supreme happiness for me when I realised she told my partner to invite my sisters, my brother-in-law and my friends, so you could imagine my disbelief when I saw them,” she wrote.

“Lamiez, you never fail to amaze me, thank you for your kindness and support ... wang rata wena jo ibile gake belaele.”

Check out the snaps from the party below:

In 2017 the comedienne told TshisaLIVE experiences she endured helped create the “Funny Chef”.  The self-hate she suffered was an attempt to “save” herself from bullying.

“I was bullied a lot when I was younger. I was the only black female in an Afrikaans school. But more than that, I bullied myself before others could hurt me. I was my biggest bully. So now nothing fazes me. I got to a point where I was like, screw whoever wants to hurt me.”

The Funny Chef began doing comedy skits in 2010, but only recently “blew up” after she posted a video imitating what a Pretoria girl would do if she found R14m in her bank account. This was inspired by the real-life story of Sibongile Mani, the student whose life changed after National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) accidentally deposited R14m into her account.

After that video, Lebogang created a Twitter account which gained more than 10,000 followers in one week. The rest as they say is history.
