Rapper A-Reece says he learnt he has to approach whatever he does next with intention, and this is a lesson he learnt from his former record label.
In his recent interview with SA Hip Hop Mag the rapper spoke about his new record label, Revenge Club Records, and more.
“Number one it’s all about the intention. With Ambitiouz Entertainment, some luck played into that. I don’t know how the owner will feel that I don’t really care,” he said.
“Some luck played into that. It’s like this man got all the talented artists in one place, whether it was out of desperation, circumstances or not having a choice. He had us grow in one space and what I realised was he had the blueprint, but what I learnt was it has to be intentional.”
When his brother Jay Jody caught up with TshisaLIVE, he shared they first worked together when they recorded Blue Tape, which was an ode to their father who had recently passed away.
“With Reece, it's very simple in the house. I'm the one who caught the rapper bug first and I would be in my room rapping using the computer. I was producing and collecting rap music, being a proper student of the game, and he became fascinated. Next thing he was writing secretly.”
The rapper told TshisaLIVE he's had to quickly learn to be responsible now that he has no backing from a big label, but he is enjoying the creative freedom.
“It's crazy and it's hard. I've had to learn to be more responsible and consider the business side of making music now that I'm independent. I am, however, enjoying the freedom to do whatever I want, especially in making music,” he said.
