It's the end of the road for radio jock and house DJ Kid Fonque as he finally hangs up his headphones at 5fm.

The DJ took to his Instagram and Twitter timelines to announce this weekend would be the last for him at the radio station.

“In the spirit of staying true — and after more than half a decade of being on your airwaves — the time has come for me to shift focus from 5FM and to bid you all a temporary farewell. In the six years, I’ve been doing Selective Styles, we’ve done some incredible things. We have shone a huge spotlight on the South African underground music scene and tapped into the unheard gems from our global community. Selective Styles was home to the freshest cutting-edge cuts from the South African huge.”

The DJ thanked all his listeners and listed the many local and international stars who made the show possible.

“I could not be prouder of the guests, the tracklists, the vibe, and your reception every Sunday — it seriously made my soul sing.

“When taking on the Selective Styles task back then, I vowed to 5FM that I’d keep it real — me — and that may have partially inspired the name of the label that emerged alongside the show: Stay True Sounds. Now that label has become my baby — and one that needs serious attention. It’s time for me to hang up those Sunday eve headphones and pay it the respect it’s due. Staying True ... I’d like to thank 5FM for their vision and all the artists who contributed, but mainly you, the listeners: Selective Styles would not have been anything without your support. The final show will be this Sunday. Salut, Kid Fonque.”
