Actress and singer Nandi Madida wants South Africa’s biggest genre, Amapiano, to be loved and appreciated for what it is around the world.
Taking to her Twitter timeline recently she said as the genre gained popularity across the world, it should not be appropriated but be appreciated.
“My hope is that this beautiful genre called Amapiano grows around the world but that the world knows & appreciates that it is a South African sound and that South African artists/Djs/producers and so on are empowered on a global scale & not appropriated,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, other artists feel global audiences need to come to them and not the other way round.

Popular Amapiano DJ Njelic said he had no desire to tour internationally. Bro is happy here and feels that if anyone wants to hear him play, they should come to Mzansi because he is not interested in going to them.
In a recent interview on Jazziq and Friends Njelic said: “I don’t need an overseas job, I’m not from there. If they want to see me they must come here. Who are we impressing when we go that side, South Africans who went that side to work?”
