Gospel star Ayanda Shange says his wife Koketso is home and taking it one day at a time after she was almost kidnapped last week.
Counting his blessings,, he said friends and family are by her side as she deals with the trauma.
He recently wrote a lengthy post on his socials describing how on a shopping trip his wife was almost kidnapped by an elderly woman who followed her.
He said once the elderly woman was alone with his wife in a quiet spot, she attacked her.
“The next thing this old rotten mother sprays my wife in her eyes with something enomuthi. My wife couldn't scream or speak or do anything but she was obeying whatever this rotten mother was saying. This mother tried to make a call to her man to come fetch Koketso, unfortunately bekune load-shedding so network was off. She took her to some kasi Lawley 2 ext 10, where she was going to give her to his men. Fortunately, because my church is everywhere, some mother from my church TACC recognised her and called her “mntwana kaBaba ufunani la”. My wife couldn't respond instead tears were flowing. Then our church mother realised that she's got a problem, then that's where the rotten mother ran away,” he wrote in a since-deleted post.
Speaking to TshisaLIVE he said they did not open a case because they did not know the woman.
“My wife is a bit better now, though she is still traumatised because of what happened, especially at night. But for the case we decided rather if we can have like a campaign around that kasi, because a lot of people have came forward and complained about children missing around that kasi. So we couldn't open a case because we don't know the person. What the post did is that now a lot of people are aware from that area. Most of them were saying on that post and sharing that they are also victims.”
He said they are now uneasy because they don't know if they were “targeted”.
“The thing that shocked us is that it was an elderly woman, and as a gospel artist I respect the elders. We usually even help the elders around the community, but after this thing we are scared for our lives and also for my wife because we don't know if this was targeted at us or it was just going to happen and maybe my wife was at a wrong place.”
This has inspired the gospel star to run a campaign in the area.
“We wanted to go to the police station and work together with them on this campaign for it to be like a formal thing that is properly planned. We wanted it to be a peaceful thing, so we are going to have the police but also go to that kasi and make noise. I'm sure someone is bound speak up and assist with information,” he told TshisaLIVE.
