From Grammy awards to breaking records on the charts — SA stars who owned 2022

While many celebrities have take strides, some of your faves have stood out from the rest.

Some of the stars who made history in 2022:

Zakes Bantwini 

Zakes Bantwini's chart-topping single Osama became the first and only single since Radiomonitor's establishment to retain the number one spot for 10 weeks in a row on South African radio charts.

Thato Mosehle

Medical doctor Thato Mosehle, 26, made South Africa proud when she became the first woman of colour to represent Mzansi at the Miss Supranational pageant, the first to do so under the official Miss SA banner and the first to make it into the top 3.

K.O

K.O made history staying in the number one spot for 12 weeks on the charts. 

The rapper released the single featuring Blxckie and Young Stunna before his Skhanda Republic 3 (SR3) album launch on September 15. 

Radiomonitor South Africa announced the news on Instagram. 

“K.O, Young Stunna and Blxckie's Sete becomes the first song (local or international) to stay in the #1 position for 12 consecutive weeks on the official @radiomonitorsa airplay chart. Congratulations on a new record! #k.o #youngstunna #blxckie.”

Largest amapiano dance

Bontle Modiselle, musician Alfa Kat and World of Dance co-ordinator Quintus Jansen received a certificate for the largest amapiano dance from Guinness World Records.

Black Coffee

DJ Black Coffee won his first Grammy award in April.

The star won the best dance/electronic album award for his seventh studio album, Subconsciously.

It is the first time a South African artist has won a Grammy in this category.
