Nomcebo Zikode is gearing up for the upcoming Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on February 5.

The multi platinum-selling artist is set to compete in the category Best Global Performance for Bayethe, her collaboration with Zakes Bantwini and Wouter Kellerman.

The singer, who took the world by storm in 2021 with her vocal performance on the record-breaking global hit single Jerusalema, is honoured to be recognised on the world musical stage.

“These past few years have been incredible,” she said.

“It feels surreal that we’re nominated at the premiere music awards show in the world and we are in contention for a Grammy award.

“I’m grateful to my team at IMG Africa and everyone that’s helped us get to this point over the years. It’s taken a lot of hard work and commitment to our craft to get here. The crazy part is we have so much else planned over the next year or so.”

Earlier in the week, the Grammy Museum announced Nomcebo would perform with Zakes at the museum. “Dive into music from around the world during Grammy week,” they posted on Twitter.

“Expand your horizons with our panel: Grammy nominee @ZakesBantwiniSA, @Ad_Mski, @Anele, Sibo Mhlungu & @theo_baloyi01. Enjoy a performance by Bantwini & Nomcebo Zikode. Register to attend: https://grm.my/3WsFaJZ.”

IMG Africa CEO Sibo Mhlungu, who was responsible for co-ordinating this collaboration, said: “We're looking forward to representing South African music at the upcoming Grammy Awards.

“Bayethe is a truly global record that speaks to the dynamism and undeniable talent of all three artists and we're proud to showcase our work on the world stage.”
