The fifth edition of the Joburg Film Festival, powered by MultiChoice, is on the horizon.
Cinematic excellence from around the world will be well represented and celebrated with this year's festival set to showcase some of the finest from more than 35 countries, including 20 African and 27 South African premieres.
Showcasing stories from Jozi to Japan and beyond, festivalgoers can look forward to a dynamic cross-section of culture through feature films and documentaries. The festival runs from January 31 to February 5.
The opening film Xalé follows Awa, a 15-year-old African schoolgirl happily living her teenage years alongside her twin brother Adama, who dreams of Europe. This beautiful Senegalese feature immerses the viewer in a story of family values, love, life and betrayal.
The rest of the line-up includes films from South Africa, Tunisia, South Korea, , Brazil, US, Japan, Morocco and more.
Screenings will take place at Ster Kinekor Sandton (Sandton City Mall), Maponya Mall (Soweto), Cinema Nouveau Rosebank (Rosebank Mall), The Bioscope (44 Stanley, Milpark) and Theatre on the Square (Nelson Mandela Square). Limited tickets are available.
