Friends, family and fans gathered at a packed Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg to remember hip-hop star Kiernan 'AKA' Forbes.

Colleagues and relatives spoke fondly of the artist, saying he was not only musically gifted, but also cared deeply for those he loved.

The rapper is survived by his daughter Kairo, mother Lynn and father Tony Forbes.

At the time of his death he was romantically linked to rapper Nadia Nakai who was also in attendance at the memorial service.
