She dons many hats in Mzansi and now Ayanda Allie is ready to add singer to her repertoire.

Ayanda was a news anchor and spokesperson for Fikile Mbalula when he was minister of transport.

She has announced she's ready for the next phase in her life, though the new venture is daunting.

Taking to her Instagram timeline recently she shared snaps and a snippet of a song, part of her album titled, We the People set to be released in March.

“I’m both excited and scared out of my wits! But as we know: “Nothing ventured, nothing gained”. I pray I can count on God’s guidance & your support on this journey. Yours in song, Ms Allie,” she captioned her post.

In a separate post she shared an old picture and explained that singing was not new to her.

In another post she shared her music plans and how singing is an expression she never could find in the roles she has played.

“Status quo is such that we can no longer stay silent. My debut album: 'We The People' will be out in March, Human Rights Month. The songs hold a mirror to society & articulate what I couldn’t say as a news anchor or spokesperson. The process has been liberating, here’s a peek,” she posted.

Broadcaster Masechaba Khumalo also took a leap of faith a few years ago when she ventured into music.

She released a single called Vela featuring music duo The Real Landlordz in 2022.

She told TshisaLIVE she finally realised she had nothing to lose so she went for it, saying that her first song was with DJ Mobi Dixon.

“This was the first song I featured on, which was on Mobi Dixon's album When House Was House. The song is called Mvelinqangi and it's also a spiritual song even though it's a house song. It wasn't a write-up song. It was a freestyle. I'm a writer but I've never written a song. I would just go into studio and be led by the Spirit.”
