‘My heart is in pieces’ — Hope Mbhele mourns the loss of her grandmother

Media personality Hope Mbhele's world has been forever changed after her grandmother passed away.

The actress in a heartfelt Instagram post expressed her devastation at losing her favourite person in the world.

“My smile keeper ... my favourite place in the whole world. I’ve always dreaded losing you because you were Home to me. I love you so much Gogo... I thought we had more time. Time for one more singing session, even though I’m a terrible singer. Time for one more Christmas. Time for one more video call,” she wrote.

Hope explained in detail her gratitude for her granny, from the way she taught her to put God first, to staying up with her when she was studying for her high school exams.

She reflected on pieces of her grandmother that she saw in herself and thanked her for loving her unconditionally.

“My love for black rooibos tea comes from her. My stubbornness as well ... She had the power of just giving you one look and you’d automatically get up ... I sadly inherited some of her fears and superstitions as well. Am I the only one who was told that if you misbehave during thunderstorms, the lightning would strike at you? As soon as there was lightning and thunder she’d demand that all cellphones and TVs be switched off, mirrors covered and jewellery off. I’ve hated thunderstorms ever since. I’m going to miss you so much MaGumede ... More than you’ll ever know. Thank you for instilling so much love in us. My heart is in pieces, but I know I’ve gained the most amazing angel,” she wrote.
