Nadia Nakai has returned to work for the first time since the death of her boyfriend, AKA, and has the support of the rapper's family as she makes a comeback.

Kiernan “AKA” Forbes was gunned down on February 10. His murder is still under investigation.

Nadia took some time off from work to grieve for her late partner. She had her first gig at the weekend at Rockets in Bryanston, Johannesburg, on March 24.

The Naaa Meaan rapper was accompanied by AKA's father, Tony Forbes, and they shared a moment on stage together.

AKA's mother, Lynn Forbes, comforted Nadia when she made her return.

“Kiernan will be there with you in spirit, every step of the way. Chin up beautiful, you've got this and we've got you,” she wrote on her Instagram stories.

Nadia is still struggling to come to terms with AKA's death and has been candid about her grief on social media.

The rapper admitted though it had been hard for her to leave the house after AKA's death she understood she had all the support she needed to continue to live.

“Sometimes I wish I never experienced your love. I wish that you were just an acquaintance and I could say 'Oh Supa Mega passed away, what a loss for the game.' If I didn’t love you, maybe it would be easier to continue my life without you. Now, because I had been loved by you, it’s just so hard. I have this hole in my heart that won’t let up. The world just doesn’t feel the same. I try to hold onto to my memories of when I was happy before you, maybe if I remember how it was before, I could be like that again.

“But everything doesn’t feel real. I don’t know if seeing you every day on social media is better or worse, I don’t know if reading our messages is healing or not. I know I need to get out my house soon, and I know the people that continue to hold me down, will be there for me, thank you, But I just feel like I’ll never be ready. What is my life going to look like now? Time heals all, but time really takes it’s time, and I don’t know when I’ll ever be fine,” she wrote.
