Media personality Anele Mdoda is on top of the world after launching her second show under her production company, Rose And Oaks.
After making her debut as a producer with Ludik on Netflix last July, Anele and her partners Paul Buys and Frankie du Toit launched The Masked Singer South Africa in partnership with the SABC and Primedia.
With 20 years in the entertainment industry, Anele has been on several franchises working alongside industry heavyweights, which has prepared her for the expansion of her career.
“Because I've worked on those big shows, you guys can't expect me to do anything less. We have the best of the best working on this and it wasn't about making profit ever, it's about creating great content.
“I'm not afraid to operate from my strength. I can't work a camera, I can't work a control room or technical things but I'm going to hire someone who can and be present,” she told TshisaLIVE.
From the costumes to the host, Mpho Popps, and the panel of detectives, Anele and her team have been meticulous and intentional in selecting every element of the show.
Singer J'Something, media personality Somizi Mhlongo, social media sensation Sithelo Shozi and comedian Skhumba are the first season's celebrity panel of detectives on the game show.
“I love people who are content but ambitious, and that's exactly what they are. The reason I got Mpho is because I believe it was time for him to be on a shiny-floored show. The show format says there must be a comedian on the panel and Skhumba for me is the most effortless person on stage. I have quietly watched Sithelo on social media for over four years now and built a girl-crush. This girl is so magnetic, she reminds me of a young me. Somizi has got four decades of choreographing people, and he's not afraid to be his faults. J'Something was my first choice.”
Anele spoke about the importance of creating a good and healthy working environment for her staff.
She hopes to see her company grow even bigger, having studios and a reputation of excellence.
“I want to buy studios, I want to make sure that people create content easily. It's our job to make the entertainment industry bigger for the next generation. People must get paid, people must be managed properly and people must be looked after and that's what I'm about.”
