Throughout his career spanning over a decade, Katlego Maboe has hosted a number of corporate and entertainment award ceremonies but being announced as one of the official hosts of the Metro FM Music Awards 2023 takes the cup, he says.
On May 6, the media personality is set to take centre stage alongside Lerato 'LKG' Kganyago at the Mbombela Stadium.
“Music is quite a big part of my life, it's through music that I found myself on television and entertainment at large. This is probably one of the biggest gigs I have bagged in my career. I am absolutely honoured and very excited, this is a huge gig,” he told TshisaLIVE.
Ahead of the highly anticipated star-studded show, Katlego and his team have been discussing ideas and working hard behind the scenes preparing for the big night.
“I have been doing this for quite some time and it's something I believe is part of my DNA of who I am. Every single award show you present or any show, you approach with reverence.”
Katlego's major comeback comes after a two-year hiatus after being embroiled in a cheating scandal laced with lawsuits, losing out on jobs due to it, and later being exonerated.
“I don't take for granted the opportunities that have in recent times come knocking at my door through the support of people who've just stood by me, prayed for me, and helped me through the toughest times that these opportunities have come around.
“I'm so grateful that I still have an opportunity to be part of what I believe is an incredible industry.”
The media personalities and supporters who have been rallying behind him on social media and tracing his journey have been anticipating Katlego venturing into the music space.
Katlego says he has high hopes of releasing music at some point in 2023 but for now, looks forward to celebrating fresh faces and legends who have been making waves.
