Another sob tale in South Africa's music industry has come to light after singer Sbahle said she was being bullied by Blaq Diamond member Ndu Browns, who allegedly took down her music.
The singer, known for her song Emhlanjeni, took to social media to express her woes, saying though Ndu promised to assist her with her music career, he failed to keep his end of the bargain.
“I now understand one of the reasons artists prefer to just die inside and commit suicide ningazi nokuthi bekwenzenjani ... I am tired,” she wrote.
The singer confronted Ndu in a series of Instagram posts.
“People come to my grandparents' home, ask for permission to move me to a different province and promise to take care of me and my career, and support me all the way, only for them to abandon me, not knowing what I eat, where I sleep or how I live. Now they are bullying me out of my music and taking it down.
“So Bhuti Ndu, you really meant it when you called me a nothing? Is that the reason you are taking down the music that we agreed about? Is this how you are showing your support?”
Addressing her claims, Ndu shared a statement on Instagram stories, saying Sbahle left Umuthi Records after a year and was now signed to Ambitiouz Entertainment, which he alleged is behind her social posts.
“The label she is signed to is using her to fight their own battles with us. As we all know, we left the same label in 2021. The other story about me saying she is nothing, is nothing but lies to try to tarnish my name ... other than that you will understand that this is just their old tactic of creating scandals for most of the artists that left the label.
“I have nothing against Sbahle personally and as someone I once worked with.”
Sbahle responded, saying Ndu's statement was false.
“I don’t understand how the label is fighting you using me. As a brother you should have at least reached out and given me a heads up that you’ll take down the song since you have nothing against me, but big support for my talent. You went on socials asking for me to release the song and we all agreed that we’ll release the song, hence the song was released under Ambitiouz.
“You are bigger than this Ndu. What’s the long-term gain in you using me to fight Ambitiouz? You cannot use my career or my life as a tool to fight your battles. I would expect you to protect and shield me in such acts, not you taking me down.”
